Suppressors – Now that suppressors can be purchased over the counter, I’d suggest getting a suppressed .22 LR in either an accurate pistol or small rifle for stealthy hunting of small game. Something like the Browning Buck Mark or Ruger Mark 2-4 would be a good set up suppressed with a red dot. Game changer for stacking up bunnies.
I hear people talk a lot about being overwhelmed in getting caught up with preparations. Surely everyone knows a guy that’s pretty squared away. Have a face to face meeting and discuss the possibility of joining him. See what areas he may be lacking in – ham radio, medical, construction knowledge, etc. Discuss what skills you bring to the table and what tangible assets you could bring along. Start collecting stuff he might need and plan to bring it or even see if he wants to store it at his place to lighten your moving load.
You’ll still have to get there of course but perhaps it’s something to think about. Everyone will need added hands on deck for all sorts of manual labor and security.
Add a few Sawyer water filters and extra bags to your stash. I’ve used these for years and they work well, filtering by gravity while you’re doing other chores. One of these in your pack, truck or stash in the woods could make a difference.
