U.S. National Debt by Year
National debt is the outstanding financial obligations of a country. The national debt of the United States is what the federal government owes to its creditors.
The U.S. has always carried national debt, and the majority of presidents have added to it. However, total national debt has been expanding rapidly since 2008 due to a combination of increased government spending and failure to raise taxes.1
Understanding the National Debt
The federal government borrows money to cover outstanding expenses that accumulate over time. Funds for federal spending are mainly generated by collecting taxes on personal and corporate income, payroll earnings, and borrowing.

Heaven knows, not even the Fed wants to own the Treasury Bonds! Temporary Repos only. Perhaps Christie's can auction them off as a nostalgic relic of bygone days?🤣

Everyone who studies history knows the road to the end of an empire starts when the coinage, particularly the silver coinage, becomes debased. I instinctively knew this when I was collecting pennies, nickels, and dimes as a kid. I got my first counterfeit dimes in 1965. I quit collecting dimes soon after when bad money (counterfeit dimes) chased out the older good dimes that contained silver. Nothing I learned in the MBA program at UNC-CH in 1976 changed my mind. I also learned at UNC-CH that most of the folks in those programs seem to only care about the money they would be getting. Life is too short not to follow a career that puts having fun first and making coin second. Fun is doing what you like with folks that care, to include co-workers, management, vendors, and customers.
On a very positive note, my 5,400 shares of TRX are finally looking much better.
